Katie Plays Hookey

Katie got to play hookey from school the Thursday before Spring Break when Grandma Penny and Mommy took her to the mall and then to Sky High Sports to jump all over trampolines.  Katie got to pick everything we did that day from going to Starbucks to get minty milk and a breakfast treat, to buying pretty hair clips and nail polish at the mall.  She loved jumping wall to wall at the trampoline place so much she asked if we could celebrate her birthday there. We had a great day, and when the sun came out we ended with ice cream that we brought to share with Sara when we picked her up from school.

Dance The Night Away We Did

Auction Disco (20)

Mommy has spent almost every waking moment working on the school’s auction fundraiser and it turned out to be a HUGE success!  We put on a 70’s / 80’s Dance Party, and had so much fun.  The best part was the $30,000 we raised for FLS.

We had an awesome auctioneer who made the entire night entertaining and fun.  Partway through the auction he announced a little surprise.  He told the crowd that he knew a secret he wanted to share with everyone.  “Everyone here knows Mrs. Donovan, some of you know her as Suzi, but what you may not know is she was born Heidi Suzanne.”

“Heidi loves FLs so much that she is willing to share her secret talent if it will raise some money for the school.  She is willing to yodel for no less that $300.00.  Is there anyone in the room who would be willing to pay $20.00 to see this awesome talent?”

I was shocked to see all the cards in the air.  We actually raised $820 in less than a minute!

So there I was, yodeling “The Lonely Goat Heard” from The Sound of Music, and the crowd was actually cheering.  That’s when Troy asked the crowd, “Who wants the St. Paulie girl to deliver a round of beers to their table? Do I hear $50.00, …”  Again I was shocked at how high the bids were getting.  “Sold!  $200 to bidder 224!”

It was so much fun to dance the night away.  After the auction was over we were not ready to call it a night.  A group of us went to the local karaoke bar to continue the party.  It was the latest Nate and I have intentionally stayed up in years, but we had so much fun!

So That’s Where Those Sounds Come From

We spent a wonderful Christmas vacation with our So Cal families in Lancaster.  The girls had so much fun playing with Josh and being surrounded by aunites, uncles, grandmas, and grandpa Greg.

Uncle Chris gave the girls a Dr. Suess book, and a green stuffed bird character from the book.  One evening Uncle Chris was reading to Katie and we kept hearing a strange tooting noise.  After about the tenth time a surprised Uncle Chris asked Katie what was going on.  He then looked at the green bird and said, “I think we have a gassy bird in here.”  Well the name stuck, from that moment on whenever the girls hear (or create) a toot, they both shout, “Gassy Bird!”
